Hello! I am so happy to be here at Penn Middle School as your School Counselor. My role at the school is to support all students academically, socially/emotionally, and with career education. I do this through individual counseling, group counseling, classroom lessons, and many other programs that we provide at the school.

JA BizTown
6th Grade
Students grades 6th through 8th will receive Career Education lessons. These lessons will address a number of important topics geared towards career development and exploration.
Each lesson will have an assignment to go along with it. These assignments will be added to the students career portfolios and will travel with them from year to year. These lessons meet the criteria for the Future Ready Pa Index.

Interest Area Quick
Assessment
Students will complete a Quick Assessment on PA Career Zone. Students will fill out an outline based on their results.
Career Plan and Goal Setting
Students will create academic, professional, and personal goals for their future.
Interviews
Students will interviews friends about 2 careers they may be interested in. Students will also interview 5 people who currently have jobs.
JA Biztown
Students will have the opportunity to visit JA Biztown. They will get to work a selected job for the day and interact other businesses and occupations in the town.
CWCTC Presentation
Students will have a presentation on CWCTC. Students will fill out a Google form Reflection.

Throughout the year I meet with students in small groups. These groups are a great way for me to offer assistance to students with similar needs.

Student Assistance Program
The Student Assistance Program is comprised of trained school professionals (counselors, teachers, and administrators) who receive referrals from parents, teachers, students, and other school staff. This team works closely and confidentially with outside agencies to help you access school and community services.
Do You see your child Showing any of these behaviors?

- Changing friends; no longer spends time with old friends

- Talking about suicide/depressed
- Defying authority, both at home and at school

How does my child become involved in the sap program?
Penn Middle School's SAP team will help you find services and assistance within the school and, if needed, in the community. We do not diagnose, treat, or refer your child for treatment. Rather, we will provide you with information; you make the choices. Remember, you are part of our team. Our goal is to help your child succeed in school.
Students come to the SAP team in different ways. Anyone can refer a student to the Student Assistance Program. Some students are referred by teachers and other school personnel. Any school staff member, a student's friend or family member can let the SAP team know they are worried about someone. The student themselves can even go directly to the SAP team to ask for help. However, the SAP team will not become involved unless we receive parent permission.
